What you will learn

  • Domestic, industrial and underground wiring as per IE rules and the National Electrical Code
  • Winding, testing and maintenance of DC machines, transformers, single- and three-phase motors
  • Switchgear, protection, earthing, distribution boards and cable jointing
  • Basic electronics, PLC fundamentals, inverters, UPS and solar photovoltaic systems
  • Measuring instruments, energy metering, fault finding and safety practice

Where it leads

  • Wireman / Electrician in manufacturing plants, hospitals, hotels and housing projects
  • Technician with WBSEDCL, Indian Railways, PWD and other government establishments (through relevant recruitment)
  • Maintenance technician in solar EPC and electrical contracting firms
  • Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961, leading to regular employment
  • Self-employment as a licensed electrical contractor after obtaining a state licence
