What you will learn

  • Chain, compass, plane table and theodolite surveying
  • Levelling, contouring, traversing and computation of areas and volumes
  • Total Station, GPS/DGPS and introduction to GIS and remote sensing
  • Setting out of buildings, roads, canals and drainage works
  • AutoCAD drafting, map preparation and survey record keeping

  • Surveyor / chainman in construction, irrigation and infrastructure projects
  • Survey assistant with PWD, Irrigation, Panchayat and municipal bodies
  • Site engineer support role with real estate and road contractors
  • Apprenticeship with infrastructure and consultancy firms
  • Self-employment as a private land surveyor
